How We Met

4.23.19

We met when we were recruited to be part of the same team for a college project. Little did we know, this was the first chapter in our story. Conveniently we were paired up once more for the same project the following year. It seemed as though the universe itself was rooting for a connection to grow, but it was not the right time. Giovanna graduated and our paths began to diverge. Distance grew, and our story took a pause. And then, the world faced a moment of collective uncertainty - the era of Covid. In the midst of isolation and lockdowns, we found ourselves drawn back together. Our stories converged once more, the timing felt perfect. With every virtual call, every text message exchanged, the attraction and friendship deepened. And when we finally reunited in person, we knew we couldn't be without the other ever again.

The Proposal

4.22.23

On a relaxed Saturday evening, we wandered through the charming paths of Vondelpark in Amsterdam. We were trying to locate the rose garden, but when we arrived the roses hadn't bloomed yet. Jon began looking nervous as if the missing roses threatened to derail his plan. We ventured on, discovering a secluded spot by the water. A tree, its branches intertwined, offered a nice view over the calm surface. We climbed on its outstretched limbs, ready to enjoy the view. As the sun began to set, Jon took a deep breath and began speaking from the heart. With a mix of excitement and anticipation, he pulled a small box out of his pocket and asked if I'd like to continue seeing the world with him for the rest of our lives. I said "Yes," with much excitement, sealing a chapter of our journey and marking the beginning of our forever.
